The 2026/27 Premier League season kicks off this weekend, running from Friday, August 21 through Monday, August 24. Arsenal will launch their title defence in the curtain-raiser against Coventry City, who clinched the Championship under Frank Lampard’s leadership.
Hull City, recently promoted to the top flight, face a stern test against Manchester United. Meanwhile, Manchester City begin life after Pep Guardiola by welcoming Bournemouth, and nine new managers will oversee their first top-flight matches this weekend.
Matthias Jaissle and Andoni Iraola lock horns for the first time as Newcastle and Liverpool bosses respectively, with Enzo Maresca seeking a response from Manchester City after their 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal. A West London derby also awaits as Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea travel to Fulham.
With ten matches scheduled across the opening weekend, here is the viewing guide and full fixture list.
Sky Sports continues as the Premier League’s primary UK broadcaster, showing no fewer than 215 live matches throughout the campaign. In total, approximately 1,500 games across the Premier League, EFL, Carabao Cup and other competitions will be available via Sky’s television and digital services.
Viewers require a Sky TV subscription alongside a sports package to access the coverage, with the Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle available from £35 monthly for new customers. This deal provides comprehensive access to the Premier League, EFL, Formula 1, darts and golf, representing a £384 saving against the regular price of £51.
The offering includes around 100 standard channels, complimentary Netflix Standard with Ads and discovery+ subscriptions. Alternatively, the £44 Ultimate TV and Sky Sports package adds Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu at no extra cost.
This package features at least 215 live Premier League encounters across the 2026/27 season, over 1,500 contests from the EFL and beyond, plus Formula 1, golf and darts coverage.
New for this season is Your Multiview, Sky’s innovative feature debuting on August 21, enabling viewers to monitor up to four simultaneous Sky Sports events on one screen. A refreshed Sports Hub provides scores, statistics, tables and additional data alongside live action.
Existing Sky customers can add Sky Sports channels for £22 monthly on a fresh 24-month contract. Sky Sports is also included in various Virgin Media packages, with discounts available during the provider’s ‘Summer of Sport’ promotion.
The flagship Sport bundle has returned to its ‘lowest ever price’ of £52.99 (previously £56.99), incorporating nine Sky Sports channels, over 200 standard channels and complimentary Netflix access. Subscribers to both Sky and Virgin should note annual price increases typically applied in March and April.
Selected Premier League fixtures will also appear exclusively on TNT Sports, which generally broadcasts one match per gameweek, starting with Hull against Manchester United. TNT has confirmed coverage of two full rounds of midweek fixtures in February and March 2027.
These can be accessed through TNT Sports, HBO Max or Prime Video’s TNT Sports channel, with subscriptions from £25.99 monthly on an annual basis or £30.99 on a rolling monthly contract.
