Fernandes reveals Rashford among first players at Man United training ground after return

Marcus Rashford has reintegrated into Manchester United’s senior squad under Michael Carrick, with his recent conduct at the club’s Carrington training complex drawing significant attention from teammates and coaching staff alike.

The England international’s return to the first-team environment this summer came after an unexpected series of events following his loan spell with Barcelona last season.

The forward had been widely anticipated to leave Old Trafford permanently after his time in La Liga concluded.

However, the Spanish club elected against pursuing a permanent transfer for the player, instead opting to acquire Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon.

This development forced Rashford back into United’s planning ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Fernandes, speaking to Sky Sports, noted that Rashford had become one of the earliest arrivals at the training ground this campaign, alongside established early-comers such as Diogo Dalot and Ben Sesko.

Fernandes indicated that while Dalot typically sets the standard for punctuality, Rashford had joined that select group of players prioritising early attendance this season.

Rashford’s performances since returning to the club have caught the eye of those within the setup.

Carrick, speaking after United’s 4-0 Champions League victory against Sabah, expressed satisfaction with the forward’s contribution.

Carrick highlighted Rashford’s attacking threat during the match while acknowledging the player had been unfortunate not to achieve greater reward for his efforts.

The head coach emphasised that Rashford had adapted swiftly and performed numerous aspects of his game at a high level, noting that managing his workload had been a deliberate approach ahead of weekend fixtures.
